Police arrest man who hit officer with vehicle, fled the scene

Police have arrested an individual who, when asked to stop at a checkpoint, had refused, hit an officer with his motorcycle, and fled the scene.

Police said that the man had been speeding near the Henveiru Football Grounds in Male' last Tuesday night, when Police manning a vehicle checkpoint had instructed him to stop. Instead of stopping, the rider had driven his motorcycle into a police officer and sped away from the scene.
