4,000 applications submitted for land and flats

Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure has revealed that 4,061 applications have been submitted to the administrations "Gedhoruverin Portal" so far for land and flats to be leased from the Greater Male' Region.

The administration opened applications for 1,000 land plots in Hulhumale', 2,000 land plots in Gulhifalhu and 4,000 flats to be developed in Hulhumale'.

Applications for the land and flats will be open until September 26.

Land is to be leased free of charge after 40 years in Male' City and providing land plots to Malé residents is a presidential promise of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The President has previously stated that 5,000 land plots will be leased from the Greater Male' Region.

According to the land lease policy, land will be issued from Male' to those who have never been registered in an island other than Male'.

The minimum size of the land leased under the scheme is 1,225 square feet. However, if a joint application is submitted with the participation of family members, for each additional person 400 square feet will be added to the size of land. This will allow an increase of up to 4,000 square feet of land.

The flats will be issued to residents of Male' city as well as residents of other islands who have been living in Male' city for more than 15 years.
