President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Wednesday, appointed Mohamed Zahir as the President of the Employment Tribunal.
Zahir, who previously served on the tribunal as a member, was appointed following the resignation of Ahmed Shifau, the previous president.
In addition to Zahir, the current tribunal members are Aminath Abdulla Zuhair, Fathimath Maheera Mohamed, Abdulla Mifraz Nizar, Mariyam Shamma Ibrahim and Mariyam Rishfa.
The Employment Tribunal was established under the Employment Act to protect the rights and obligations of employers and employees, and mediate such disputes. The authority of appointing members to the tribunal is accorded to the president.
