The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has opened applications for the post of Director General of Maldives Blood Service, which oversees the Thalassemia Centre.
Applications will remain open until next Thursday.
This announcement follows the recent appointment of a temporary Director General to the Thalassemia Centre, amid growing concerns from patients and their families over the poor state of the facility and its services.
Ahmed Mausoom, former Director General at the Ministry of Local Government and a professional with a background in the health sector, was appointed to the position on March 24.
The requirements for the role include a Level 10 qualification in a health-related field under the National Qualifications Framework, along with at least four years of relevant work experience, two of which must be in an executive position.
In addition, applicants with a Level 9 qualification, eight years of work experience, and two years in a managerial role are also eligible, the announcement read.
Following an inspection of the facility, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu pledged late last month to urgently improve the condition of the centre and appoint more staff.
The Director General will receive a monthly salary of MVR 21,884, a service allowance of MVR 12,534, and an attendance allowance of MVR 339 per day, bringing the total monthly remuneration to over MVR 40,000.
