Development of six-storey buildings will now be permitted on Hulhumale' Phase 2 land plots allocated for housing.

According to the Hulhumale' Phase 2 Planning and Development Guidelines issued by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Monday last week, buildings on these plots can have a maximum height of 18.5 meters and up to six stories.

If the building is higher than 16.5 meters, an elevator must be installed. Additionally, if a terrace is placed on the sixth floor, the height of the building must not exceed 18.5 meters.

Previously, the initial regulation for land allocation under the Binveriyaa scheme permitted buildings to be developed up to six stories. However, HDC board had later amended this regulation to permit development up to ten stories.

The "Guideline on Construction of Land Allocated under the Binveriyaa Scheme" has now been removed from HDC's website.

Approximately 1,000 people have received land under the Binveriyaa scheme in Hulhumale', and almost all plots have been registered and handed over. Despite this, no construction has yet commenced on these plots.

Instead, the area has seen the construction of small cafe's and warehouses.
