A ceremony to mark the signing was held at the Noovilu Seaplan Terminal yesterday.
Speaking at the event, MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef stated that joining the Air Service World Congress would open up opportunities to foster ties with senior officials of the aviation sector in other countries, and offer business opportunities.
Shareef called on the different actors within the sector to make use of the opportunity and join the congress.
He highlighted that the government considers the development of the airport as a priority, noting that expansion of the airport would contribute towards further broadening the tourism sector and having a positive impact on the economy.
Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Chairperson Aisha Nurain Janah also attended last night's ceremony.
Nurain said that the Maldives can be even more widely popular as a global tourism destination with the development of the Velana International Airport.
ASWC is a networking and knowledge sharing event for the air service industry. The Congress is scheduled to be held in Maldives, hosted by the Velana International Airport, from July 9 to 11, 2024.
MACL said that the congress will have aviation sector professionals from around the world in attendance, with 300 delegates.
