Maldivian bodyboarders conclude Visit Maldives Pro 2024 after fourth round

Ongoing at Varunulaa Raalhugandu, a surfing break in Male' City, the Visit Maldives Pro 2024, which is part of the Bodyboarding World Tour, has concluded for Maldivian bodyboarders after yesterday's heat.

Maldivian athletes had concluded the Men's Opens after the fourth round. Aspiring bodyboarder, Amin Umar Moosa had advanced to this round after triumphing his heat in the third round with reigning junior world champion, Peru Michel at a score of 11.75.

However, he had only managed to score third place during his fourth heat with Brazil's Gabriel Braga and Eder Luciano after accumulating 7.7 points.

In the past two years of Visit Maldives, Amin had always secured a rank in the junior category of the competition. He competed in the finals in the first year and clinched the bronze medal in the following year. Last year marked his last instance of competing for the junior category.

Maldives had only managed to win so far as the fourth round in the junior category this year as well. Ambitious local bodyboarder, Eyan Ahmed had competed in the fourth heat and collected a score of 7.05. The young athlete was matched with Spanish bodyboarder, Hugo Medina, Chile's Mikelle Arriagada and Portugal's Federico Castello Brenco.

This tournament, which will run through Friday has observed participation from 14 countries and 86 bodyboarders in the Men's Open, Junior Men's and Women's Open.

From the fifteen Maldivian bodyboarders who joined the Men's Open this year, five competed in the Junior category.
