Normalization Committee has requested Acting General Secretary of Football Association of Maldives (FAM) Jaushan Shareef to remain in the position.

As reported in Mihaaru News, Jaushan had sent in his resignation once the Normalization Committee had taken over administration of FAM. However, the Committee rejected the resignation, according to their sources.

Jaushan, however, said that it was not through submitting resignation that he had decided to not continue in his post. He says that he had notified FIFA and AFC that he did not wish to renew his contract, which had expired.

"I did not resign. I informed them that I do not wish to renew the contract," Jaushan said.

"I have shared this with FIFA even before the Normalization Committee was appointed. Once the committee was established, I prepared a handover report and shared it with FIFA and AFC. Once the Committee was appointed, I shared this with them and the Chairman (Ahmed Zuhoor)."

Jaushan said that FIFA, Normalization Committee, as well as Chairman Zuhoor, had requested that he remain in his position and work alongside the committee due to the situation FAM is in now.

Jaushan said that he has decided to comply with the request and remain in the position.

"On their request, and with the intention of working for football, I remain in FAM at this time," he said.

Jaushan was initially appointed as General Secretary of FAM last November, when the association was being led by then President Bassam Adheel Jaleel. This was after current Deputy Minister of Youth Hussain Jawaz resigned from the post after filling it for eight years.
