As the scheduled date for exams coincides with the currently set date for parliamentary elections, the Ministry of Education has decided to prepone the final exams of Grades 7, 8 and 9 to avoid the clash.
As per the Academic Calendar, the second term exams for these grades are scheduled to be held from April 16 to 27.
However, the Ministry affected a change to these dates upon the Elections Commission confirming the date of the parliamentary elections to be April 21.
In a circular sent to schools on Thursday, the Ministry instructed the exams to be held from between March 27 and April 25 on official days.
The Ministry asked the schools to deliberate with the focal points set for the schools by the Elections Commission if any schools intended to hold any exams on April 20.
With the changes to the academic year brought by this administration, the current academic year will reach conclusion in April. The 2024 Academic Year will be commenced on May 26.
