Amid concerns of citizens regarding a case of bullying in Maaungoodhoo school, Education Ministry has stated that investigation into the case has commenced.
Ministry of Education has commenced investigation into the reported abuse of a student enrolled in the first grade of Shaviyani atoll Maaungoodhoo school by another student of the school.
A media official representing the Ministry shared with Mihaaru News that investigation into abuse and bullying of the Maaungoodhoo school student is presently ongoing. However, no further details on the case was disclosed.
The parent of the student in question had written on social media that many days have passed since the child has been getting bullied by a classmate and further revealed that despite informing the school, they had disregarded the case.
The parent had stated that this was why the concerns were taken to social media.
“This is the state of my child’s eye after the first period of school on March 4, 2024. My child said that the kid who previously inflicts abuse had hit [my child] in the eye. Due to the abuse inflicted by this kid, the case was submitted to the school as well,” the parent had said.
“Attempts to meet the school principal were also refused by him, twice.”
In response to inquiries about the case in the post, Principal of the school, Ibrahim Solah, stated that the case is being investigated by the school as well.
While many have expressed concerns about such cases of school bullying, the Maaungoodhoo schoolis heavily criticized by many due to their neglect amid this bullying case.
