Maldives National University (MNU) on Tuesday awarded PhD’s to two of its students. This was the first PhD’s awarded in the Maldives.
The graduates, Sunaina Rasheed and Aishath Ali were both awarded PhD’s in education at the MNU graduation ceremony held in Dharubaaruge.
Speaking at the ceremony, chief guest and the Minister of Home Affairs Azleen Ahmed had expressed his contentment, stating that it was always a dream of his to see Maldives awarding PhDs. Azleen had also said that it was an accomplishment to the entire country to have a progressing university like MNU and expressed his gratitude towards this progress.
The home minister also spoke a few words of advice to the graduates, encouraging them to avoid hatred and to follow the righteous path.
The ceremony had commemorated MNU’s 290 graduates from various courses, all above degree level. MNU is also set to have their next graduation ceremony of the month on Sunday.
