Cochin accident: One with serious injuries, two in stable condition

One of the three Maldivian women injured in a road accident in Cochin, India remains in intensive care, while the other two have stabilized, according to the family.

The accident occurred about 40 kilometers from KIMS Hospital when the car driver, who had stopped on one side of the highway, collided head-on with another car from the opposite lane.

The three individuals involved, hailing from Raa Atoll Alifushi, sustained injuries while returning to Trivandrum after visiting a hospital near Cochin. The injured include a 25-year-old woman, her 50-year-old mother, and her 54-year-old aunt.

The son of the injured 50 year old woman stated that his mother and sister remained in the intensive care unit after undergoing surgery. He mentioned that as their condition has become stable, they will be shifted to a room sometime today.

The person who sustained serious injuries in the accident was the 54 year old who was sitting on the side where the other car collided with.

"My aunt has fractured ribs, and the doctors are yet to determine the course of treatment. A decision will be made later this afternoon, and she is currently in the ICU," he explained.

From the accident, the girl sustained injuries to her face, the mother suffered a broken leg, and the aunt experienced facial injuries and loss of consciousness. She regained consciousness later while receiving treatment in hospital.
