The third meeting of the Maldives – Sri Lanka Joint Commission is scheduled to be held February 8 - 9 in capital Male.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of each country will lead their respective delegation, with Dr Mohamed Asim heading Maldives and Mangala Samaraweera leading Sri Lanka.

The Maldives – Sri Lanka Joint Commission was established in 1984 with the primary aim of improving bilateral relations in all spheres. The First Session of the Joint Commission was held in 2006, followed by the second meeting in 2014. This session will be an opportunity for the Maldives and Sri Lanka to further strengthen their partnership.

The discussions will shed light on strengthening the two South Asian neighbours' diplomatic relations on various sectors.
