It is no secret that Maldives reopened borders to all tourists from all countries on July 15, 2020 and by heart is Safe Haven for Travellers.

To ensure the safety of all, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has made it a mandatory requirement for all travellers to present a Negative result for a nucleic acid test (PCR test) for Covid-19 on arrival and departure with no exception, vaccinated person or not, effective 10th September 2020.

With the opening of international borders of Maldives having been opened, a plethora of stay options for Indian tourists has also opened up. Travellers can visit the Maldives and select from an exceptional array of stay options - Resorts, Liveaboards, Guesthouse and Hotels. Perfectly located for natural distancing, and extending a pleasant feeling of being one with the environment.

Followed by the open borders, India has emerged triumphantly as the number 1 top source market for tourist arrivals in the Maldives in 2021, overtaking the position previously held by Russia. The latest statistics published by the Ministry of Tourism indicates that as of 17th February 2021, Maldives welcomed 32,970 arrivals from India followed by 32,019 arrivals from Russia this year.

The rising number of incoming Indian travellers for Quarantine Stay packages and the fact that the destination is recognised as a preferred travel location for couples, families and friends, some Atolls and its hotel owners have started declaring the following:

‘Until further notice, we will not be accepting bookings originating from the Indian market and we will not be accommodating any quarantine packages.’ - from Reveries Maldives, Laamu Atoll.

Maldives is not a Quarantine Destination but Preferred Luxury Haven for families, couples and friends.
