The Ministry of Finance has decided that salaries of all government offices will be paid before June 22, as the last 10 days of this month will be government holidays given on the occasion of Hajj Day and Eid-ul-Adha.

According to the Ministry the last date of processing salaries for this month is June 22.

The circular published by the Ministry instructs government offices to submit salary vouchers through the government accounting software before June 19. Daily stipends and overtime pay will also be taken into consideration from May 16 to June 10, according to the Ministry.

Salaries of government offices are usually deposited between the 28th and 30th of each month. However, the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has made the decision to open the Central Bank and other banks on the 26th of this month. The banks will be operational from 8:30am to 2pm on that day, according to MMA.

This year, Hajj Day falls on June 27, and Eid-ul-Adha on June 28, as per the calendar. The calendar also indicates a 3-day holiday for the occasion of Eid. However, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has declared the two days preceding Hajj Day, the 25th and 26th, as official holidays. As a result, public servants will have an extended holiday for Eid this year.
