Economic Ministry urges the public to be cautious of scammers operating a fake online portal to bring in expatriate workers to Maldives.

The fake online portal used by scammers appear to be have copied the one set up by the government.

Maldives Immigration urges all users to be wary of fraudulent websites

In a news release published by the ministry, they said these kind of "fake portals/websites" are often used to obtain personal information of the users with the intention to misuse them.

The websites the ministry has identified as ones falsely presenting themselves as the official website include

- https://immigrationgovmv.org

- https://xpat-egovmv.com

- https://xpategov.com

- https://www.xpat-gov.com

- https://www.xpat-egov.online

- https://xpategovmv.org

The ministry has adviced all recruiters to be careful of people that use fake portals. The website the ministry uses is https://xpat.egov.mv.

Economic ministry urges everyone to verify the link provided by the ministry when using these services.

The expat online portal is used to apply for quotas and employment permits for expatriates.

The ministry has instructed to only use the website provided by them, and if any other platform was used to reset the password used for it.

They cautioned everyone to be careful of any fraudulent immigration website they may see.
