President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to add a discount on electricity bills used during this past Ramadan, making it the second month State Electric Company (STELCO) customers would receive this discount.
The first discount under the initial directive by the president was offered for the electric services provided during the month before Ramadan, of which the bill was generated in Ramadan.
However, with no discounts offered during Ramadan, and high temperatures being recorded during that time, the bills customers received were significantly high.
In a Facebook statement made by the Managing Director of STELCO Hussain Fahmy, it was announced that the bills generated for electricity consumed during Ramadan will also now be given a discount.
As such, revised bills with discounts calculated into the total will be sent to the users, he said. However, he did not mention what measures will be in place for those who have already paid their bills.
STELCO previously revealed that the first discount provided to their customers for the month before Ramadan would amount to MVR 20 million.
