Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, on Thursday, opened opportunities to purchase duty-free diesel for sale and supply distribution.
The parliament previously passed the amendment slashing the import duty for diesel purchased by fishing vessels.
According to the Fisheries Ministry, diesel will be sold duty-free to licensed fishing vessels under the programme. Therefore, the Ministry called for interested parties to acquire licenses before submitting applications.
Fuel suppliers willing to participate in the programme were requested to submit their application forms to the ministry.
The programme will be carried out via a mobile application, which will be tested during the month.
The announcement stated that duty-free diesel will be issued after test trials for the application conclude.
