The Maldivian Embassy in Dubai has stated that a large delegation from the Maldives led by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu himself will be in Dubai to conduct an Investment Forum, scheduled to commence on Tuesday.
Ambassador Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) stated that in addition to the President, the Maldivian delegation will also include Ministers, company leaders, and independent businessmen.
“Approximately 200 people will be attending this forum,” said the Ambassador, speaking to the media visiting Dubai for the forum.
The ambassador said that this forum initiated by Maldives is held in Dubai due to the strong relationship between Maldives and UAE through various industries. He highlighted the significant investments to the tourism industry in Maldives by major UAE investors and stressed the importance of the relationship between the two countries.
“On the other hand, it is a country that has a large employment of Maldivians,” he said.
He revealed that the President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will arrive at Dubai tonight in order to attend the World Government Summit in addition to the Dubai Investment Forum. He also emphasized that this is the first time a Maldivian president is attending the World Government Summit.
“Previously, in the former government, both participations were by the Vice President,” Shareef said.
The Investment Forum will also see the participation of some business associations and banking institutes.
“We will receive the opportunity to directly speak and discuss with these people,” he said.
An Investment Forum was also held in China during President Dr. Muizzu’s first diplomatic visit to China at the request of the Chinese President Xi Jinping. The government had assured the results of that Forum were also significantly positive.
