Maldives Police Service has disposed off over 260 kilograms of illicit narcotic substances on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
Local law enforcement had destroyed drugs confiscated during multiple busts. Police attested 30 kilograms of drugs remained from the entire confiscated lot following Thursday's disposal.
The undisposed content are still tied to ongoing investigations, which police claim was why they were not disposed.
The content disposed at Dhoonidhoo on Thursday included drugs confiscated since 2021. The destroyed content weighed 264.93 kilograms in total.
The content included 10,888 rubber packets, 4,285 cellophane packets, 246 camera roll boxes, 130 bullets along with 40 bidi cigarettes and 6,359 mind altering pills.
Authorities had also destroyed 4,559 articles of content used to package narcotic substances.
