The body of the teenaged girl who drowned in an uninhabited island near Thaa atoll Vilufushi on Wednesday afternoon was transferred to Male' the same evening.
The deceased is a 17 year old girl named AIshath Saima.
Vilufushi council said that the matter is being investigated by police.
Reports indicate that the body had to be transferred to Male' in order to conduct some scans that cannot be done on the island.
Mihaaru reports that the girl was from Male', but was cared for by a Vilufushi family.
