Police rescue an unconscious man from the sea near Rasfannu area in Malé City.
The man was discovered floating away by a group of people in the area. Suspecting the man to be dead, they reported the matter to the Maldives Police Children's Services Unit near Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
According to a witness at the scene, the man was rescued by officers from the Children's Services Unit and Maafannu Police Station.
Police officers had jumped into the sea to rescue a man who was found unconscious near Rasfannu beach. Despite their efforts to bring him ashore, they were unable to do so and had loaded him onto a dinghy that was passing by at the time, a witness said.
Police said the man who was unconscious in the sea near Rasfannu beach was taken to the IGMH with the help of police. The man has been identified as a 24-year-old male, according to the police said.
Authorities confirmed that the 24-year-old man was taken to IGMH with the aid of the police. Though the circumstances surrounding the time and location he entered the water remain unknown, a family member revealed that the man was mentally challenged.
