Police are seeking to prosecute the taxi driver, who hit a woman while she was on a zebra crossing last week.
The Transport Authority also revoked the driver's licence for a period of two years. His taxi licence has been revoked as well.
According to the 46-year-old victim's acquaintances, she suffered a brain haemorrhage and is still in critical condition. She is the mother of an 18-month-old baby.
The taxi driver rushed the woman to Senahiya Hospital, which was in the vicinity of zebra crossing, and then later to ADK Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
The decisions of the Transport Authority and Police came after several people publicised photographs and details of the driver, calling on the authorities to take action.
A witness revealed to local media Mihaaru, that two women were hit by the taxi while they were crossing the road. Only one individual was left in serious condition.
Police stated that they are investigating the case with utmost seriousness and will press the necessary charges.
