President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed his satisfaction with the campaign activities led by the main opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

President Solih made this statement while speaking to the residents of Shaviyani atoll Maaungoodhoo during his campaign trail.

During the campaign rally on the island, President Solih remarked that he noticed Maaungoodhoo to be a politically active island, as evident from the vibrant display of multi-colored party banners and flags across the harbor and streets.

President Solih said that he viewed the vibrant display of party banners and flags in Maaungoodhoo as a healthy aspect of the democratic process among the parties for the upcoming elections.

"I can see that here on this island. We get energized and spirited to contend when we get competition in equal footing. I am satisfied with the work put forth by PPM members and urge them to continue forward. We are ready to compete," President Solih said.

Besides this, MDP has criticized the lackluster efforts of other candidates who earlier announced their decision to contend in the elections.

President Solih had also criticized his friend-turned-rival Speaker Mohamed Nasheed and The Democrats' business manifesto, stating that the current government has already facilitated collateral-free loans through SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC).

"A candidate has made a promise to develop a 1,200-meter runway in a local island where we have already begun developing a 1,500-meter runway," President Solih said.

"Others have claimed to facilitate collateral-free SME loans, which we have already begun issuing. So, with the right plan or proposal, interested entrepreneurs can acquire funding," Solih said, criticizing The Democrats on their policies.

President Solih pledged to develop the roads in Maaungoodhoo, transform the health center into a 24/7 operational institution, and introduce services for women’s health issues. He further promised to upgrade the island’s school and construct a modern mosque.
