Immigration announced yesterday that an operation to identify undocumented workers had been conducted in Thilafushi. 28 Immigration Officers an 35 Police Officers were involved in the operation.

In the operation, 257 expatriates were checked for legality. Of these, 33 without valid work visas were detained. In addition to this, 22 expatriates were issued written notice to present themselves at the Immigration offices.
As of now, under these operations, 5000 expatriates have been deported for not complying with Immigration regulations.
