Dr Aishath Muneeza has been appointed to the Shariah committee of the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB).

Muneeza previously served as a Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, and as a Deputy Minister at Ministry of Finance.

She has also filled the posts of Professor and Associate Dean at Malaysia's International Center for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) University.

Dr Muneeza has additionally served as Head of Islamic Financing at CMDA, a member of Figh Academy, and also Chairman of Hajj Corporation.

As well as offering consultancy services in Islamic Financing, Muneeza played a key role in the introduction of the Maldives' first Shariah compliant Islamic micro-financing scheme 'Faseyha Madhadhu'.

She has also served as Shariah Advisor in formulating the structure needed for sale of sukuk by private and public companies, as well as having contributed to building the legal framework around islamic capital market in the Maldives.
