Maldives Immigration has today commenced issuing token numbers via the Ant Queue app for the issuance of passports after work visa approvals.

Previously, work visas were issued when applicants presented themselves at a specified time at the Immigration Offices, and waited for their queue number to be called.

In a press release by Immigration today, they said that in accordance with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's wishes, Immigration Service provision is being made more convenient for service seekers.

As such, Immigration Controller Mohamed Sham'aan has decided that from today onwards, queue numbers for passport collection after work visa approval will be issued online through the Ant Queue app.

The statement noted that the previous arrangements had caused multiple complaints from service seekers.

"As we were receiving complaints from service seekers, we have aimed to find a solution for the issue. As such, fitting in with the modern times, this service is now available online. Queue numbers can be taken within the specified time through the app, where ever the service seeker may be. Queue progress can also be viewed online. As such, it will save time for service seekers, and provide further convenience," the statement reads.
