Crossmatch samples required for bone marrow now extractable from within Maldives

The government has facilitated procedures for crossmatch sample extractions necessary for bone marrow in the Maldives. A team from India is scheduled to visit the country to conduct the extractions, which will then be tested upon their return to India.

Procedures for extracting samples required for crossmatch tests done prior to bone marrow transplants has now been arranged in Maldives.

Associate Specialist in Pediatrics at Maldivian Blood Services, Dr Ahmed Umar stated that previously, families had to travel to India in order to do these crossmatch tests which incurs significant costs.
