New mosque in Hulhumale' Phase 2 to be opened on Friday

The first of the new mosques being constructed in Hulhumale' Phase 2 is expected to be opened to the public on Friday.

The first of the new mosques being constructed in Hulhumale' Phase 2 is expected to be opened to the public this week Friday.

In a post on social media X today, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said that the mosque has the capacity to accommodate 1500 persons in congregation.

The Minister pointed out that the opening of this mosque would bring immense convenience to residents of Hulhumale' Phase 2 in the upcoming month of Ramadan.

Currently, a temporary mosque located in the vicinity is being used by residents for their daily prayer congregations.

The first mosque slated for operations in Hulhumale' is being constructed by Muni Homecare - one of the leading companies in Maldives offering a wide range of home and living products such as furniture, building material, home deco and more.

The mosque expected to reach completion next is one being built by SJ Construction, with the capacity to accommodate 3000 persons.

Three other private parties, as well as HDC, are also currently constructing mosques in Hulhumale' Phase 2.

Minister Shaheem has said that all except the mosque being built by HDC will be permanent structures.

While the building of temporary mosques has become common in Hulhumale', Shaheem has said that it amongst President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's aims to ensure that all mosques are made permanent.
