Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, who is faced with a health issues leading to difficulty in standing for extended periods, will temporarily stop leading Tarawih prayer congregations starting from tonight.

Since the start of Ramadan, Minister Shaheem has been leading Tarawih prayers at Rasheed Mosque in Hulhumale'.

In a Facebook post, the Minister stated that the decision was made based on doctors' advice due to health reasons, which make it challenging for him to stand for long periods. However, the Minister did not specify the health issue.

In his post, Minister Shaheem also requested the public to keep him in their prayers as he prepares for an upcoming surgery. He said that he will resume leading prayer congregations once his treatment is complete.

"As I am going for an urgent surgery, I would like to request well wishes and prayers from everyone," the Minister said in his post.

Minister Shaheem expressed that he has always loved leading prayer congregations since childhood. However, due to his health condition, he has temporarily stopped leading prayers. Currently, a significant number of youth are leading Tarawih prayer congregations in mosques across the Male' region.
