Maldives' Queens BC, reigning champions, has won the first match of the women's division of Basketball Super Cup against Sri Lanka's Eagles.
The Basketball Super Cup is a tournament organized by the Maldives Basketball Association, and commenced yesterday.
The match was played at the indoor court of the Social Centre last night, and saw Queens rise up and win with 56-50 points against Sri Lanka's Eagles.
The best player of the match was awarded to Nirma Sasanthi who took 14 rebounds and scored 12 points for Eagles.
Maldives' Elite Sports BC will also be competing in the women's division of the Super Cup, which will continue till next Monday.
Sri Lanka's Eagles club is also competing in the men's division. Other teams in the men's division are Maldives' T-Rex BC, Redwings BC and Kings BC.
T-Rex BC, which holds championship at present, won their first match in the division as well, playing against Red Wings and winning with 64-79 points.
Although Red Wings lost the match, their player Adam Yafiu Ibrahim was crowned best player for taking 6 rebounds and scoring 18 points.
In yesterday's first match of Super Cup, Kings played against Eagles. Eagles won the match with 99-115 points, with Elijah Christian Bailey winning the title of best player of the match with 57 points.
