Dignitaries from 46 countries are arriving in the Maldives to attend the Inauguration of President Elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The first to arrive in the country for the event was Special Envoy of the President of China and State Councillor Shen Yiqin. She will be in Maldives for a period of four days.
The dignitaries are being received at the airport by senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with President Elect Office's Representative and former Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer.
It is believed that Zameer will be appointed as Foreign Minister in the incoming administration.
Seychelles Vice President Ahmed Afeef also arrived in Maldives on Thursday. He was welcomed by Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and Zameer.
Ahmed Afeef is the son of Abdulla Afeef, who was the leader of the earlier United Suvadives Republic, a separate government formed by the three southernmost atolls of the Maldives in the past.

The oath taking ceremony of President Elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu, who won September's presidential election, is scheduled to be held at 4.30 pm today at the Republic Square.
