An association has been incepted to further relations between Maldives and Australia, led by former Ministers of the cabinet.
A five-member team has been elected to oversee the running of the association registered last month, Australia-Maldives Friendship Association.
Former Higher Education Minister, Dr Ibrahim Hassan has been chosen to preside over the association's administrative committee while Aminath Salaah has been elected Vice President.
According to the Association, it's main purpose is to establish stronger relationships between the two countries while extending assistance to relevant authorities.
Besides organizing exchange programs for students and volunteers, tasks assumed by the agency include striving to further develop business and investment opportunities alongside cultural and social activities.
