The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has urged the public to take necessary precautions as the Maldives braces for adverse weather conditions starting today.

According to the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET), a low-pressure system in the southwestern Bay of Bengal, east of the Maldives, is expected to move westward, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms from January 13 to January 18 and will likely result in strong winds, rough seas, and possible storm surges, especially in the northern and central regions.
