Dr Hussain Faiz was appointed as Secretary General of the Supreme Court on Monday.
Faiz had served as the Undersecretary at the President’s Office for a period of five years during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration.
The Secretary General’s responsibilities include ensuring that the court's administrative work proceeded according to policies set by the judges bench, compiling the policies pertaining to the Secretary General's field, and providing the necessary information to the bench regarding the Supreme Court’s projects.
In addition, the Secretary General oversees the progress and development projects, strategic plans, and implementing the schedule of the Supreme Court.
