Villa College has introduced eight new program for students ranging from culinary arts and psychology to advanced engineering.
Villa College has introduced eight new programs at the college yesterday.
These programs are Certificate 3 in Culinary Arts, Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honors), Master of Engineering (Electronics), Master of Engineering (Electrical), Master of Engineering (Mechanical), Master of Engineering (Mechatronics), Master of Engineering (Computing) and Master of Clinical Psychology.
The new programs were launched by the Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development, Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed, during a special ceremony held at the college.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Haidar stated that these new courses were introduced to cater to the industries in the country that require human resources. He also acknowledged the efforts of the college in expanding human resources. Additionally, he remarked that talented Maldivians are needed for the industries that the new courses are targeted towards.
Vice Rector of Villa College, Dr Ali Najeeb, emphasized that the introduction of these new courses spans across the entire educational spectrum, from the lowest to the highest levels, ensuring comprehensive program offerings. He highlighted that these courses are of high quality, with qualifications accepted by international universities.
One of the new courses, Certificate 3 in Culinary Arts, spans over 6 months and comprises both theoretical and practical modules. Covering 11 cooking techniques and providing lessons on preparing a variety of meals safely, the program teaches basic skills in meal preparation.
The course in Masters of Clinical Psychology is a 2 year course that provides lessons in counseling and conducting psychological assessments and behavioral research. This course is tailored to fit the current environment in Maldives in collaboration with the University of Cyberjaya in Malaysia. The lecturers teaching this course are trained foreign and local professors with PhD qualifications in the industry.
Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honors) program is a 4 year degree program. This course consists of various modules tailored to advance within fields related to engineering.
Masters Courses in Engineering integrate both theoretical and practical lessons essential for advancing in the specialized field of study.
These Masters Courses in Engineering mark the introduction of the first engineering courses at a Masters level in the Maldives. Villa College has emphasized that these courses are designed to meet the standards set by professional bodies and industries within the field, including modules that effectively prepare students for employment in the industry.
These courses are designed to equip students with knowledge of engineering and technological advancements, enabling them to solve complex engineering problems with innovative solutions. The duration of these courses is one year and fifteen weeks.
Villa College has extended the window to apply to these newly introduced programs until May 4.
