Prosecutor General's Office has made arrangements so that victims of domestic violence can submit the application forms for Order of Protection Against Domestic Violence online, instead of having to physically submit the form at the office as earlier.

Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem explained on his personal blog that applicants can now log in to the office's website through their e-Faas account and submit the form online.

Shameem further said that as the applicant is applying via their e-Faas account, the basic information needed on the form will be automatically filled, and applicants will only need to fill in the section regarding the incident/s they faced.

"Once they select the name of the Court they want to send the form to, the PG Office's portal will provide the service of automatically filling out the relevant court's email address and send them the form on their letterhead. This now brings an end to the practice of victims of domestic abuse having to walk to the courts with forms in hand," the PG said.

Shameem said that the form will be forwarded to the court via an email from the PG office, stating that this is a form received via its portal. He explained that this is an email forwarding system, and the PG office will neither be aware of, nor hold any records of, any information included in the submitted forms.

"We do not even want to know. What is on the form is a communication solely between the applicant and the court. The only thing the PG Office will be doing here is provide convenience in filling the form, and make the road to justice easier to navigate," Shameem wrote in his blog.

The court's decision regarding the order, and the order itself, will be available to view via an email and through the applicant's online portal account.
