The Prosecutor General's Office (PG) has made arrangements to send automated messages to courts to expedite domestic violence cases
The PGO stated on Saturday that they have taken the initiative and are working on several tasks to ensure justice is served for domestic violence survivors. This includes making updates regarding the scheduling of the case and how the case is proceeding available on their website.
This was to assure the survivor that they can access information regarding their cases under the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as provide ways for them to keep up with the work the state has undertaken for justice.
PG Office has also started sending automated letters to the court where the complaint is filed to ensure that the case is listed expeditiously as per the time limits provided under the Code of Criminal Procedure for the trial of domestic violence cases.
"In any case considered to be a case of domestic violence, the letter will be drafted and sent to the court automatically. If a person looks for the case later due to a delay or other reasons, the communication will be visible. The idea is to encourage the courts to complete cases of domestic violence expeditiously," the PG office said.
