India High Commission shifts to Hulhumale'

Indian High Commission office in Maldives, previously at Male' City has been shifted to Hulhumale' as of Sunday, August 14, 2022.

An official from the authority on Sunday, speaking with local media confirms that the new office is situated at Lot Number 11499, Street 4 of Hithigas Magu, Hulhumale'. The street lies in front of Hulhumale' indoor swimming track.

The commission had previously been run at the premises of Henveiru Athireege Aage, Ali Ameer Magu in Male' City - in front of Jen Maldives.

The official further attests, the commission has been moved in favor of a new office building since the previous establishment had become rundown.

Meanwhile, Maldives government earlier announced allocating plots for foreign embassies at Hulhumale' Phase II - which include the Indian embassy as well.

On September 4, 2019 foundation for the Indian embassy building at Phase II was laid by Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. Subramanian Jaishankar and Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Abdulla Shahid.

Among the countries for which Maldives government extended new plots in Hulhumale' Phase II to develop embassies include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates (UAE), China and Pakistan.
