Authorities have found charred remains of a body from the fishing vessel which caught fire on Wednesday.
One of the crew members was reported missing in the fire and firefighters had launched an extensive search before the remains were discovered among the debris.
Authorities however, have not confirmed that the body was the missing crew member, reportedly a Bangladeshi national.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said the remains have now been handed over to the police.
The MV Barosa was formerly owned by the state fisheries company.
