60,000 cases of flu reported in the last two months

According to HPA statistics 32,738 cases were reported in June and 30,293 in July. The agency has urged the public to take precautions to prevent the spread of common illnesses.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported a rise in cases of flu across the Maldives.

According to HPA statistics, 60,000 cases of flu were reported in June and July, with 32,738 cases in June and 30,293 in July.

In the first week of August alone, 2,627 cases were reported, marking an increase compared to the same period last year.

HPA also said that a higher number of people tested for influenza symptoms in July compared to June. So far this year, 1,943 tests have been conducted, with 394 samples testing positive.

While the number of dengue cases decreased in July compared to June, with 798 cases reported in June and 556 in July, the figures remain higher than those recorded during the same period last year.

Outbreaks of diarrhea diseases are also on the rise, with 5,179 cases reported in June and 5,053 in July, according to HPA.

The agency has urged the public to take precautions to prevent the spread of common illnesses.
