According to Mohamed Umar Manik (MU Manik), Universal Enterprises can be credited for producing the highest number of doctors in the Maldivian medical sector.

Universal Enterprises' chairman claims majority of doctors employed at the country's main hospital; Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), received their academic progress through the company's assistance.

Manik made the remarks while addressing the students at "Discover Hospitality" convocation ceremony on Saturday evening, October 4.

Students who completed the academic component of the "Discover Hospitality" program - an initiative by Universal Foundation and Villa College - received their internship certificate during Saturday's ceremony.

He further claims the enterprise has always prioritized development of medical professionals since the beginning. Manik also notes the foundation has been responsible for providing academic opportunities for several doctor aspirants who have transitioned into specialist doctors.

While Universal Enterprise initially handled scholarship opportunities for students directly, the operation was streamlined through Universal Foundation afterwards.

Addressing to the students who completed "Discover Hospitality" program, Manik confirmed the initiative was well received and successful. "I believe students will receive some degree of tourism industry exposure by the time they complete the program," he said.

The "Discover Hospitality" initiative debuted in 2017, with just 15 students. The following year, the second batch saw an increment to 23 students and in 2019 a total of 28 students received enrolment in the program.
