Patient queues and waitlists of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) significantly dwindled down after doctors increased their patient check-ups, Mihaaru news reports.

According to IGMH, doctor check-up schedules have been altered to allow for maximum patient appointments per day for each consulting doctor at the hospital.

IGMH happens to be the only public medical institution with a full state-initiated health insurance scheme coverage, which results in the hospital being the most densely populated medical institutions in the country.

Meanwhile, it was reported that over 10,000 patients were on the hospital's waitlist for various appointments as of last September.

The most in-demand departments of the hospital include neurology, with a total of 551 patients on the waitlist, urology, with 325 on the waitlist, dentistry, with 318 patients, gynecologist department with 212 appoints, and specialist consultation for kidney-related ailments had a total of 194 appointments.

The hospital had recently via a written statement confirmed that patient waitlists of several of IGMH's departments have since become vacant due to high check-ups.

Meanwhile, the hospital's CEO Mr. Ahmed Siraj confirmed that this marks the first time since waitlists to consult specialist doctors have gone null.

Previously doctors allowed specialist check-ups only during the morning at the hospital's OPD. However, to eliminate waitlist slots, duty timings were altered to include afternoon check-ups as well.

The most recent update indicates that a total of 5,980 patients were currently on the waitlist as of Sunday, this week.
