MIFCO has lift its fish purchase limit and buy all fish brought by fishermen.

MIFCO had limited their purchase of fish in the south of the Maldives due to the increase in fishing beyond its freezing capacity. At the time, a purchase limit of seven tonnes per vessel was formed.

In a statement, MIFCO said that this was done to allow as many vessels as possible to sell their fish to the company. However, MIFCO said that the fish purchase limit set since March 6 has now been lifted.

MIFCO said that the company will always work to improve the services provided to fishermen. He also said that the company would receive the concerns of fishermen and make their services faster and easier.

Fishermen from the south had also protested against purchase limit set by the company. They said that placing a quota on the quantity of fish purchased while they are able to fish 50 tonnes per day is an unjust to fishermen.
