ADK launches brain and spine conference 2019

ADK Hospital, on Wednesday, inaugurated the third iteration of the Brain and Spine Conference in Paradise Island Resort.

Minister of Communication, Science and Technology Maleeh Jamaal and Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen, as well as high ranking officials from both ministries, participated in the inaugural ceremony.

The conference, led by ADK's neurosurgery team, is hosted with the aim of increasing knowledge among medical professionals treating cranial, spinal and peripheral nerve disorders.

Attended by doctors and nurses from across the world, the conference provides a platform to facilitate the sharing of research, recent innovations, information on advanced treatments and experiences of pioneers in the field.

During his introductory speech, ADK Managing Director Ahmed Afaal remarked that over 40 experts would attend the conference, presenting service providers in the Maldivian health sector with an invaluable opportunity to gain additional information.

Research papers written on neurological diseases prevalent in Maldives will also be presented during the conference.

According to ADK's senior neurosurgeon Dr Ali Niyaf, the two papers were compiled following thorough research and included new findings.

ADK conducted two live sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion on Tuesday as a lead-up to the internationally recognized conference.
