During his visit the Vice President will meet the Maldivian delegation participating in the Olympics and observe the games participated by Maldivian athletes.
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has departed for Paris on Wednesday to attend the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The President's Office stated that during his visit, at the invitation of the French government and the International Olympic Committee, he will meet the Maldivian delegation participating in the Olympics and observe the games participated in by Maldivian athletes.
Maldivian athletes participating in the Olympics include table tennis player Fathimath Dheema Ali, sprinter Ibadulla Adam, badminton player Fathimath Nabaha, and swimmers Mohamed Aan Hussain and Aishath Ulya Shaaiq. Dheema and Ibadulla will serve as the flag bearers for the Maldives during the opening ceremony.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday met with the athletes, and highlighted that this year marks the largest number of Maldivian athletes participating in the Olympics. Encouraging the athletes, he emphasized on the government's efforts to develop the sports scene in the Maldives.
