Authorities are working together to stop the entry of illegal substances into the country.
A special police operation is underway at Velana International Airport (VIA) with dog squad active on the scene as well.
Police said today that they are working with Maldives Customs Service and Maldives Airport Company Limited (MACL) to curb the smuggling of drugs into the country.
"The dog squad is active at the airport in line with this work," Police commented.
Recently, police arrested several individuals who were attempting to smuggle drugs into Maldives. This includes two Malaysian nationals who were arrested at VIA for trying to smuggle drugs into the UK via Maldives and an elderly local who smuggled drugs into the country as well.
