Himandhoo, in Alif Alif atoll, with a population of approximately 500, has donated MVR 230,000 to the Palestine fund.
The amount was raised through a fundraising event held in the island to encourage donations for the aid of Palestinians affected by Israel's continuing bombardment. The event was organized by STELCO staff on the island.
In a post shared on social media X today, STELCO said that its staff in the island had led the donation drive, joined by government institutions, clubs, teams and other organizations on the island.
STELCO stated that the funds have been handed over to the International Aid Campaign (IAC).
"We are proud of the example our staff sets when it comes to issues like this, and express our gratitude to them," the company said.
IAC has received over MVR 24 million in aid of Palestine to date.
