Last year's Dhivehi Surfing League champion, Ahmed Agil (Ammadey), achieved a perfect 10-point score in his most recent heat during the "Randhaa Raalhugandu" Competition of this year's league.

With the highest awarded score being 10 points, this marks the very first time a Maldivian surfer has secured the perfect score at a competition. Agil made history at the ‘Randhaa Raalhugandu’ competition held in Kaafu atoll Thulusdhoo.

This year's 'Randhaa Raalhugandu' competition consists of famed Australian judge Perry Hatchett leading the judging panel, which includes notable and experienced surfing judges from the Maldives.

In the competition's Open Division, Agil secured a total of 18.67 points, earning him a spot in the quarter-finals. The surfer achieved a perfect 10 points for his first wave in the heat and followed it up with an impressive 8.67 points for his second wave.

Sayyid Salahuddin secured second place in the heat with 8.83 points, earning him a spot in the quarter-finals. On the other hand, Mohamed Fayaz (Pele), who also competed in the Open Division, secured 3.83 points in the heat.

The competition's quarter-finals consist of four heats, where two surfers will face off in each heat. The winners from these heats will advance to the semi-finals.

Agil is set to face off against his own elder sibling Hassan Nasih (Chika) in one of the quarter-final heats, while the junior surfer who also made it to the quarter-finals, Sayyid, will face off against Hussain Areef (Iboo) in another heat.

In the third heat of the fifth round, Areef secured 14.33 points, while Nasih secured 9.83 points in the same heat. However, Ahuzam secured third place in the heat with 7.90 points and was eliminated from the competition.

In the second heat of the quarter-finals, two surfers from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Gadhdhoo, Ismail Rasheed (Smiley) and Najah Ahmed (Kabo), will be going up against each other.

Ismail faced a serious injury after securing the championship title in the first tournament of last year's league, which affected his performance for the remainder of the season. However, Smiley made a strong comeback for this year's event and performed exceptionally well at the selection trials for the National Team. Although he aimed to defend his title in the first tournament of this year, Najah defeated him and claimed the title.

In the current tournament, Ismail secured an impressive 11.50 points in the fifth round. Following closely, Mohamed Zayan (Choppu) landed in the second spot with 5.43 points, while Mohamed Irushad secured 4.83 points in the same heat.

In the first heat of the fifth round, Najah secured second place with a score of 9.67. Ismail Miglal (Kuda Isse) emerged as the winner of the heat, while Abdulla Areef scored 7.67 points coming in third place.

Nine surfers competed in the junior category of the Randhaa Raalhugandu, with the quarter finals concluding on Sunday. The winners have advanced to the semifinals.

In the junior division, Kayan Abdulla Areef will compete with Sayyid Salahuddin in the first heat, and Mohamed Inan Abdul Hannan will face off against Yoosuf Kayan Hamdhan Zaki in the second heat.

Kayan Areef secured his position in the semis with 9.83 points in the quarter finals, beating Zayan who scored 6.17 points. Sayyid secured 11.67 points in the quarter finals, defeating Yaseen Ahmed Nashid who scored 8.54 points.

Inan secured his place in the semis with 9.83 points, while his competitor in the quarter finals heat, Nooh Mohamed Dhunaim Irushad, scored 5.10 points.

Kayan Zaki won his heat with a 0.76-point difference and secured 7.93 points, while his competitor in the heat, Shanif Shafeeq, scored 7.17 points.

Both Shanif and Zayan advanced to the quarter finals through the re-qualifying heats after the first round. Shanif won the re-qualifying heat with 10.83 points, and Zayan secured 6.17 points, placing him in second place. Ahmed Aal Adil scored the lowest in the heat and had been eliminated.
