The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race, the largest running event in the Maldives, held on March 27, has received an exceptional level of participation. Over 4,000 runners registered for this year's race, including participants from various corners of the world.
Runners from 27 countries, including the Maldives, took part in the event, with a significant representation from neighboring India. The race featured 89 participants from India, 66 from Sri Lanka, and 21 from Bangladesh. Additionally, 21 runners hailed from the Philippines, and 10 from Nepal.
This race holds a unique distinction as it is part of the exclusive international gold and world athletics calendar hosted in the Maldives. The involvement of professional runners from five countries marked a defining moment. Athletes from Kenya, Sri Lanka, Russia, the Philippines, and Nepal secured top positions in various categories.
Dhiraagu also dedicated this year's race to the cause of Children's Rights. A total of 12 organizations participated in the run, advocating for the protection of children. Dhiraagu pledged a contribution of Rs 200,000 to five organizations from the race. Furthermore, the proceeds generated from the sale of race kits to the participants will also be donated to these organizations.
The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race witnessed an enthusiastic response this year, and the post-race celebration became a resounding success. The event featured 'Street Food' and showcased performances by local music artists, offering a unique and vibrant experience.
